I hate Grayhound and I'm never taking the bus long distances again!

I just hope my other suitcase turns up at the station tonight.

I'll talk about the trip when I've shaked the aches out of my body.

Ugh! so sorry about the lost luggage. I've only taken the greyhound bus one time, and it was fun for me. This was way before I knew what D/lg was, and I was wearing pigtails and talking to strangers the whole way to indianapolis...
I wish it could've been like that for you too.

They found my daughters' suitcase in Joplin MO and said they sent it on to my town now. I'm still waiting for it to come in.

On the way home the bus driver had a serious case of road rage and was flipping out at the people riding, yelling at the world outside because of lack of signs, and they screamed at the baggage porters when we got to Tulsa OK.

They sent him away and we waited an hour for a new driver to come. She let us on the bus and locked us in for an hour and a half while she had a break inside the bus station. A woman who snuck on during reboarding sat in my 9 year old's seat and a man next to us was shouting at me because Ashley didn't leave her bag in her seat (it was above the seat and a bottle of water doesn't count apparently) "That's not right! That's not right! Everyone knows!" B*tch!" and stuff like that, because the woman was black and I was white. The bus driver asked her if she was reboarding of if she just got on. And said oh come on now you aren't even supposed to be on the bus yet! then the bus driver locks us all on the bus and leaves us with the angry black man yelling at me that it's not right. He left me alone after the black lady with the 1 year old sat next to my 9 yr old. Daddy was very upset and worried because of that stuff and that we missed the last transfer of the night from OKC and would have had to sit in the down town OKC bus stop all night long til the next bus at 11am the next day. Thankfully my good friend came out and got us! All my girls clothes was in that bag that was lost since the 18th. I can't wait till it gets here!

All this fun was only the way home. The way there was equally as fun with both bags getting lost and a ticket agent screaming at me for no reason. (apparently Hi, my suitcases got lost on the way here, I was wondering what I need to do, is fighting words)

Makes the 150 dollars I saved on the tickets so not worth it.

Oh my goodness, what an awful time you had. You are right, that $150 you saved was just not worth the insanity you went through. Hugs to you and your daughter.

I rather travel by airplane even though I hate flying. The airline people treat you much better. I always try to be Litlle Mary Sunshine when I am dealing with service people. If you improve their day, they usually try to improve yours.

I had to go to the S. S. office to change the name on my S S card today. I dressed nice and acted cheery. I was in and out in under two hours.

A little, but it too was full of drama. I stayed with my grandmother who is angry at me for marrying Daddy because he's not white or American.

The good parts was my kids got to play with their cousin! My youngest and her are almost the same age! So they ran around being cute together like two little peas in a pod! My oldest got to play with my sister's kitten Nilky and was in heaven.

I got to cook which was very hard on me but fun too! I made herb crusted pork roast, brussel sprouts with bacon, avacado crab salad, Chilled tomato and cucumber soup, potato pinwheels, seasoned potato wedges, stuffed mushrooms, hot cranberry cinnamon apple cider, and pistachio frozen desert with raspberry sauce. We had got to eat it in the fancy dining room with my dad, my youngest sister, her boyfriend, grandma, and my two girls.

We didn't eat the tomato cucumber soup and the potato pinwheels till the next day for lunch. It didn't turn out the way we wanted so we didn't serve it.

(my middle sister was mad at grandma, threw a fit, took her husband and daughter and went home an hour before I was done)

Well one good result of this trip is my family decided the money that was saved on the bus tickets was not worth it and next time they're sending us by bus. (I love the train!)

I only rode the train once and that was so long ago that I can't remember anything about it.

I would like to ride a train again. I would pretend I was a Gryffindor student going back to Hogwarts.

I like the train! I used to ride it when I was in college! It was a lot more fun back then though. The cafe had better food back then.

People on the train are nicer then the bus usually and there's more room and it feels safer and smells better and the toilets flush and there's water in the bathroom sink!

wow Lisa your bag is having a wild vacation! Maybe it will bring you back snapshots and souvenirs! And maybe some little plastic umbrellas from the drinks it was having while waiting to be shipped back home!

Mary - bear deterrent is to pepper spray like lemonade is to water. The regular stuff you get is kinda so-so. The bear stuff is what rangers use in the back woods. And it is KAPOW. It is rated to stop a Kodiac bear. Usually you get it at camping supply stores or over the net.

i carried some in some bad areas in LA.
